The Wonders of Bohol

If you're looking for a three-in-one destination, Bohol is the place for you... Relaxing beaches, great
heritage and a scenic view of the beauty of nature, you can all find it here. Plus, Bohol has a dose of extreme activities for adventure seeking travelers. Let me share with you my own bohol experience.

Day 1- Panglao Tour (AM) (Php650.00/2pax)

First stop, the long stretch of Panglao's white beach where you can find Dumaluan Beach Resort and Bohol Beach Club.

DUMALUAN BEACH RESORT

BOHOL BEACH CLUB

Panglao's white beach is as beautiful as the beach of Boracay but with an exactly opposite ambiance. Boracay is known for its night life as well but Panglao offers a more peaceful and relaxing aura, perfect for those who took their time out to rest.

Next stop, Bohol Diver's Club and the famous Alona Beach...

BOHOL DIVERS CLUB

A small cave is also located in Panglao, the Hinagdanan Cave... This will be the last stop of our Panglao Tour.

HINAGDANAN CAVE

Day 1- Tagbilaran City Tour

Since we're staying in Tagbilaran and we have a map with us, we just went around the town by ourselves.

PLAZA RIZAL

Plaza Rizal is located at the center of the town, beside he church, the museum and the mall...

ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER PARISH

BOHOL MUSEUM

If you want to know the history of Bohol, better go and check out the museum... You'll see how the chocolate hills were discovered... Miniature models of the churches in Bohol were also inside the museum as well as the relics of their ancient people.

Then we went to the mall to try Bohol Bee Farm's organic ice cream... yumyum...:)

Day 2- Countryside Tour (Php1,200/2pax)

Now time to visit the famous Chocolate Hills,  meet the equally famous Tarsier and have lunch while cruising the river of Loboc. But aside from those three famous destinations, Bohol has a lot more to offer...

MAN-MADE FOREST

Located in the border of Loboc and Bilar, the MAN-MADE FOREST is a long stretch of Mahogany trees planted by the citizens of Bohol ages ago. According to our guide, Kuya Ramil, until now, the students of Bohol are still planting trees.

 CHOCOLATE HILLS COMPLEX

Chocolate Hills Complex is one of the two viewing deck in Bohol. It is located in Brgy. Buenos Aires, Carmen Bohol. Prepare yourself for a tiring walk going up the complex. There are photographers who offer trick photos for tourists. Up the complex, you'll see a 360 degree view of the famous chocolate hills.

SIMPLY BUTTERFLIES CONSERVATION CENTER

Another addition to Bohol's countryside tour was the butterfly conservation center. Here, you'll see the life cycle of a butterfly... There's an interaction with the butterflies also, you can have your pictures taken while holding them.

 HANGING BRIDGE

Be thrilled when you cross this hanging bridge for just Php10.00... Located near the Loboc river, another side trip when you take the countryside tour.

EL SUMAMPONG FARM

We passed by this farm on our way to the tarsier sanctuary and decided to drop by to check if we can try horseback riding... We were lucky enough to get a round of horseback riding for just Php50.00.

LOBOC RIVER CRUISE

Now time for the Loboc River Cruise via floating restaurant. They serve buffet lunch here at Php350 per head.

After the Loboc river experience, we drop by Loboc Church and museum, then head directly to the meet and greet with the tarsiers...

The Philippine Tarsier

The  Philippine Tarsier is considered one of the smallest primates alive. he first time I went to Bohol, they were scattered in three different locations but the last time I went there, the Boholanos have created a santuary where they house all the tarsiers of Bohol.

 Baclayon Church

Last stop before we head back to Tagbilaran, Baclayon Church. One of the oldest church in the Philippines, Baclayon Church has been one of Bohol's heritage.

 Jo's Payag Restaurant

After our countryside tour, we headed back to Tagbilaran, rented a motorcycle and went straught to Jo's Payag Restaurant for dinner. They serve the most delicious Chicken Inato (Inasal) in town...

Then went to Bohol Tropics for some drinks and music.... an oh, there's fireworks too.. :)

Day 3-Danao EAT

Time to experience Bohol's extreme adventure... A three hour motorcycle ride going to Danao to experience "THE PLUNGE".... But of course, we didn't miss other must-see destinations...

MAG-ASO FALLS

I have always been fascinated with waterfalls and this one is an addition. May not be as high as other falls, Mag-aso falls is just as refreshing. This twin falls is 25 feet high and is surrounded by trees, stones and plants of all kinds. Located in the town of Antequera, roughly 30 minutes ride from Tagbilaran.

You see that motorbike over there?  That makes our day 3 challenging... :)

SAGBAYAN PEAK

Sagbayan Peak is a mountain resort and recreation center located in the town of Sagbayan. This is another viewing deck of the Chocolate hills (the other one is the chocolate hills complex in Bilar). I personally think that the view of the hills here in Sagbayan is much nicer than that in Bilar.

They have a tarsier here too...

This are the activites at DANAO E.A.T. Time to go extreme...:)

The Plunge, the first and only bungee like activity here in the Philippines.. What am I talking about? Here...

Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience it myself... Hypertension sucks!

After the plunge, Root climbing and Rapelling...:) This one I tried already...

ROOT CLIMBING

 RAPPELLING

That was fun... :) Danao EAT still has a lot to offer but we need to get back to Tagbilaran so we weren't able to try the other activities. But for those who would want to experience everything, you can book for an overnight stay at Danao EAT... Just log on to their website for details...

We dropped by at the Francisco Dagohoy monument for some pictures. Francisco Dagohoy is said to be one of Bohol's heroes.

Upclose and personal with the Chocolate Hills on our way back from Danao...

PUNTA CRUZ WATCHTOWER

Last stop of our day 3 adventure, Punta Cruz Watch tower... Nice view of the sunset in here... :)

After a whole day of adventure and travel, we head back to tagbilaran, had dinner and went to sleep...

The next day, we were up so early to see the Blood compact monument before leaving Bohol...

Then we're off to Cebu... And that's just another story... Truly, Bohol has a lot to offer... From nature to adventure to its breathtaking beach... So what are you waiting for? Book a flight, pack your things and go to Bohol...:)
